Discussion Prompt:

Columbus Day is upon us, and so we are asking that you discuss two points within the context of our discussions on multicultural education, anti-racism, and social justice education.

First, how do you see Columbus being examined in your field placement, and how does that compare to the way you were taught about Columbus in your own experience.

Second, considering all of or readings thus far, and the readings for this week, what would the teaching of Columbus look like from a social justice-multicultural education perspective in your field placement? As the educator what would be the important concepts you would want students to take away from lessons on Columbus?

Lookin' forward to the discussion,

Cynthia & Edwin
